# AC Remote

## What it does
AC Remote replaces a lost or broken air-conditioner remote. It sends the same
infrared commands the original remote sends, or controls the AC over WiFi where
the unit supports it. Controls include power, temperature, mode (cool/heat/dry/
fan/auto), fan speed, swing direction, and sleep timer.

## Important: iPhones cannot send infrared on their own
No iPhone or iPad has a built-in infrared emitter. To control an infrared air
conditioner you need one of:
- a USB-C IR adapter dongle ($5-10, plugs into the iPhone's USB-C port)
- a WiFi IR hub (BroadLink RM4 Mini, or a Tuya / Smart Life hub)
- a Bluetooth IR blaster

Some air conditioners with built-in WiFi need no accessory at all:
- Local network (no cloud): Daikin, Gree, Midea, AUX, TCL, Xiaomi
- Via maker cloud service: Samsung (SmartThings), Panasonic (Comfort Cloud),
  Mitsubishi (MELCloud), Fujitsu (FGLair)

## Brand coverage
300+ brands including Samsung, LG, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Haier,
Hitachi, Gree, Midea, Carrier, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Hisense, TCL, AUX, Electrolux,
Whirlpool, and Cooper&Hunter. New brands are added weekly through community
contributions. If a brand is not listed, IR Learning copies buttons directly from
the original remote using a BroadLink or Tuya hub — works for any brand.
